Haha but to be more specific, the humpback whale migration here in south east Queensland, is between June and November. They migrate north up along the whale highway before starting to return south around September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-12.jpg\" alt=\"Stradbroke Island from drone\" class=\"wp-image-5354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-12.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-12-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where is the best place to  whale watch on Straddie?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Whale watching at Stradbroke Island primarily takes place from the shore, particularly along the North Gorge Walk at Point Lookout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-15.jpg\" alt=\"Stradbroke Island from drone\" class=\"wp-image-5344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-15.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-15-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This means you can enjoy the spectacle of these magnificent creatures from the cliffs, providing a unique and picturesque viewpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-14.jpg\" alt=\"Stradbroke Island from drone\" class=\"wp-image-5343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-14.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-14-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We headed to Point Lookout for a walk around the cliffs, then made our way to North Gorge where we set up on the rocks at the mouth of the gorge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whales were breaching out of the water about 5km out, which was too far to send the drone. But I did find some other sea animals, while I waited in hope that a whale would come in closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First off, I found a pod of dolphins playing in the water. These guys are way bigger than you&#8217;d expect!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-8.jpg\" alt=\"manta ray\" class=\"wp-image-5348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-8.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fourwornsoles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/humpback-8-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The view from the drone definitely gives everything a cool, new perspective.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I noticed something swimming super fast through the water, so I tried to chase it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But when the drone camera is face down over water it gets very disorienting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus the phone screen gets alot of glare from the sun. So I ended up putting the phone and controller under my shirt to block out the sun. This worked so much better!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turns out the illusive creature was a shark.
